Ontrack to participate in FT-NASSCOM IT Summit
in London
Ontrack Systems, as a member of 50-member NASSCOM
delegation, will participate in the forthcoming
IT Summit on ‘Outsourcing to India-The Next
Steps’ scheduled to be held in London on
November 25. The third international ‘Outsourcing’
event is focused to assess the dynamics of the
vendor-client relationship, taking an in-depth
look at best practices and emerging models of
outsourcing. With its expanding as well as diversifying
business in the UK market, Ontrack’s participation
in the Summit assumes great significance. Mr.
Praveen Siddannavar will represent OSL in the
NASSCOM delegation. During the Summit, Mr. Siddannavar
is likely to have one-to-one sessions with some
selected representatives from continental European
businesses.
The Summit to be held at Renaissance Chancery
Court Hotel, is being organised by NASSCOM in
partnership with Financial Times popularly known
as FT, the UK-based leading international financial
Daily. Europe represents India’s second
largest software export destination and a market
that is increasingly becoming attractive for the
Indian software and services industry to expand
its presence.
To Ontrack, the importance of the UK IT market
could be gauged by the fact that it had set up
a wholly owned subsidiary – Ontrack Systems
(UK) Limited - two years back. IT Services being
offered by Ontrack UK include Software Development,
SAP Solutions, Networking, Consultancy and Managed
Services. With its offshore model, Ontrack UK
addresses the increasing pressure of delivering
services on a 24 x 7 support through its Managed
Service Centre in Maidenhead and the Offshore
Development Centres in Kolkata and Fujairah. Ontrack’s
managed services offer integrated cost-effective
IT management solutions with significant improvement
in service quality. Its service offerings include
remote monitoring and reporting services for servers,
networks and applications; managing IS Infrastructure,
Desktop, SAP ProMon & Administration and Remote
Service Desk.
The company is currently concentrating on relationship
building with various multinational organisations
to its IT service offerings. Ontrack’s participation
in the London Summit assumes greater significance
as one of its major highlights would be building
up relationships with the European IT companies
through one-to-one sessions.
The Summit will address the challenges of implementing
outsourcing operations in the subcontinent. Case
studies from leading global players will emphasize
the key issues, both legal and commercial, which
facilitate successful negotiation and management
of the outsourcing agreement. A highlight of this
year's event will be presentations from a select
group of continental European businesses as they
share their experiences and lessons learned on
entering the Indian outsourcing market. Leading
speakers from international firms include HSBC
Holdings Plc, British Airways, Friends Provident,
ABN Amro, Linklaters, Dekabank Deutsche Girozentrale
and etc.

Leveraging Offshore Services
IT directors have the skills to deal directly
with offshore companies, so use your influence.
The current economic climate and budget reductions
that we face clearly mean we as IT leaders need
to get more out of our investments and deliver
better services with fewer resources. Moreover,
recent events have reduced demand on offshore
services, creating an opportunity whereby we can
leverage costs and services.
Many of us are familiar with the offshore service
model and have a range of experiences, good and
bad, most likely following Y2K compliance or internet-based
development. However, few of us have really exploited
the opportunities that exist from working with
offshore software companies. We still tend to
use the larger, local IT service companies that,
in turn, subcontract offshore.
